Headwaters Foundation is "a steward of community resources that were transitioned into an endowment after the sale of Community Medical Center in 2017." They partner with organizations that work to reduce barriers to health alongside Montanans to help ensure that everyone, regardless of their age, race, or income level, has the opportunity to thrive.

They are committed to being a trust-based funder and reimagining power dynamics in philanthropy. The "trust-based philanthropy" (TBP) concept involves new funding and different ways of viewing funder-grantee relationships. Headwaters GO! Grants ("General Operating") program is a leading example of TBP and a "game-changer" model for many Montana organizations.

In 2023, Headwaters enlisted MAPS and our students to tell the stories of a few GO! Grantees, and share your perspectives on this unique grant program. What makes the story a little sweeter is that MAPS has received GO! Grant funds 2018.

This two-minute video is a sneak peek into the MAPS GO! Grant Video Project. It was created to celebrate five years of grantmaking for the Headwaters Foundation and was showcased in their inaugural impact report in September 2023.
