For many months now, travelers and locals alike have looked forward to fall of 2021 as the rebirth of festivals in New Orleans. Then a summer Delta surge and Hurricane Ida combined to call off nearly all large public events. But while it doesn't look quite like anyone expected, the fall has still seen more live music than we've had in a year and half, and new, innovative festivals have been created to fill the gap.

Today, we speak with Alexandra Kennon, Arts and Entertainment Editor for Country Roads Magazine about the unexpected ups and downs of this fall and how to find out what's going on. And we also talk with Doreen Ketchens, an icon of the French Quarter street music scene, whose voice and clarinet have resumed enchanting visitors after a quiet year. She tells us about what this time looks like from a musician's point of view.
