This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2023 Lexus UX hybrid subcompact crossover. The UX has a 2L 4-cylinder engine with Lexus Hybrid Drive and an ECVT, it has a combined 181 horsepower. In Canada, standard electronic on demand AWD and in the US, FWD and AWD options are available on all trims. There is no longer a UX gas model available.
Lexus has made changes to the UX Hybrid to give it a more refined driving experience with steering response updates, improved handling stability and a reduction in cabin noise. The F Sport trims bring sportier design elements to the exterior and interior and the F Sport Handling package in the US, F Sport series 1 and 2 in Canada add standard performance dampers and an active variable suspension to sharpen handling and improve overall ride quality.
Although the Lexus UX hybrid is a small crossover, it has quite a bold style with the Lexus spindle grille, flared fenders, standard bi-beam headlamps, available triple beam LED headlamps, chrome exterior accents, rear combination lamps connected by a continuous single line of 120 LED lights, roof rails, 18” wheels and run flat tires. The UX offers 6.3” of ground
clearance.
Our test model is the F Sport Design Lexus UX Hybrid, it gets the sportier exterior design elements including, an F sport grille, F Sport wheels, a black roof and F Sport badging.
There are some nice changes to the interior, gone is the touchpad making the infotainment system much easier to use. The Lexus UX gets the all-new Lexus interface including an 8” touchscreen, available 12.3” touchscreen and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Fuel economy is 5.7L/100 km, 41 MPG city and 6.2L/100 km, 38 MPG highway.
There are plenty of trims to choose from, in Canada, it starts at $41,450 CAD, F Sport Design $43,100, Elegance Special Edition $43,250, F Sport Series 1 $44,850, Luxury $46,200 and F Sport Series 2 $50,950.
