The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has a tough job ahead of it. When Small SUV buyers think 'Subaru', they think 'XV'. The problem is the XV is no more – well, kind of. You see, the Crosstrek is the new-generation XV in all but name. It even looks the same, such is the Japanese brand's evolutionary approach to exterior design.
Either way, Subaru has to re-market Crosstrek/XV to make sure would-be buyers are still captured. But what does the Crosstrek have to offer them? Well, CarsGuide Managing Editor Tim Nicholson has spent three months living with its AWD 2.0R variant to find out.
In this expert review, he presents the highs and lows of Crosstrek AWD 2.0R ownership, covering its pricing, features, safety, practicality and fuel efficiency as well as how well it – or doesn't – drive. Needless to say, there's plenty to unpack here.
