The TicWatch Pro 5 is one of those watches that I think looks really cool, and that some people even comment on when they notice it basically has two different screens: one ultra-low powered one to extend battery life whilst still providing an always on display, and an AMOLED Display for when you actually use it. It’s very clever, but the actual performance of this watch in terms of health and sports tracking is not exactly what I had hoped for. Of course, you should judge yourself based on the data I will share in this video. We will test the heart rate tracking performance during different exercises like running, cycling and weight lifting, and we will also evaluate the sleep stage tracking and GPS consistency. Let’s get to it!

Hello everyone! For those of you that are new to the channel, my name is Rob and I am a postdoctoral scientist specializing in biological data analysis. As you might know, I don’t like listing the specs of watches, for that you can check out the manufacturers website or some other reviewers. In this video I want to focus on independent testing, but first a quick disclosure: MobVoi did send me this watch for free, but I have no obligation to test it, and they did not get to influence or even see the video before release. With that out of the way, let’s get to the testing!

Overall, I’d give the TicWatch Pro 5 between 2 and 2.5 out of 5 stars, but probably closer to 2 stars. Now, I am not sure if MobVoi will ever send me devices again to review, but this is my honest opinion. For the price, you can definitely get better devices. I would rather get a Forerunner 255 for instance if GPS and a good ecosystem was my focus, or if I was on iOS and I wanted a great smartwatch with great tracking, I’d get an Apple Watch SE. If I had a higher budget and I wanted just health tracking, I’d get an Oura Ring, and if I wanted a compromise between health and sports tracking, I like the Whoop Strap. Finally, for cheap and decent sleep stage tracking, I’d probably get a cheap Fitbit.
