Manifold plumbing differs from branch plumbing in several ways, which are important to keep in mind when choosing a plumbing system. In this video, we go over some of the features of these two systems, and why the benefits of manifold plumbing make it so much easier to work with.

First of all, with the branch system you'll have a primary feed that will deliver hot or cold supplies throughout the building. You'll also have a series of elbows, t-pieces, and couplers, which are all potential leakage points.

With manifold plumbing, it's different. Unlike branch plumbing, you'll have a central manifold for either hot or cold supplies, and the manifolds come in a range of port sizes. One of the main benefits of manifold plumbing is that you can work with smaller pipe sizes, distributing from the manifold to their destination or termination points.

There's also the fact that it’s a jointless plumbing system. Being able to isolate individual circuits allows you to easily access difficult locations.

Lastly, with branch plumbing, if you bury the pipe in concrete, it goes against building regulations because the pipes should be retractable and removable. Manifold plumbing allows you to conform to these requirements.
