Call your accountant – Toyota's new LandCruiser 300 Series is coming soon and the price-hikes across the line-up are substantial enough to give your wallet the cold sweats.
The turbo-diesel V8 has gone but the 300 Series gets a new 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine – producing 227kW and 700Nm – and it has a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 300 Series will be available in six spec levels: GX, GXL, VX, and Sahara, as well as the new GR Sport and the top-spec Sahara ZX.
Every new LandCruiser has permanent four-wheel drive, with a low-range transfer case, but the driver-assist tech on offer becomes more comprehensive the more expensive the grade is.
The 300 Series looks like it’ll be smarter, safer, lighter, than previous LandCruisers – and also nicer to drive with more power and torque – but how will it perform on and off-road? And will it be a solid towing vehicle? Rest assured, we’ll be doing on- and off-road reviews in the new 300 Series as soon as possible, so stay tuned to Carsguide.
