Here’s the one you’ve been waiting for. The Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series is probably the most hotly anticipated new-model launch of the year, if not the decade so far.
An all-new design, with a fresh (if controversial) powertrain, repackaged interior, improved suspension and big safety advances, the 4WD icon has a real shot at being the best 4x4 in the world, especially if it manages to maintain its predecessors’ reliability, durability and dependability.
Prices are up by between $7000 and $10,000 depending on grade, so it isn’t cheap by any means.
But the options are thorough and the range broader.
Additionally, the brand is targeting more specific buyers for the LandCruiser, thanks to the blacked-out, retro-esque GR Sport – which actually gains a couple of worthwhile off-road technologies – as well as the luxury-focused Sahara ZX.
What the 300 Series promises, ultimately, is the greatest 4x4 wagon you can buy. The question is… does it deliver?
