Nearly everyone can give you a dozen reasons why you shouldn’t buy a used Range Rover, and I have a video coming soon on why you should avoid buying one. But with all of the people saying you SHOULDN’T do it, it’s not the full truth. There are actually reasons it is something you should consider. In this video, we're going to talk about some of the reasons you should buy a used Range Rover L322.

Driving Experience

It’s one of the biggest perks of owning any Range Rover. There’s absolutely nothing else like it on the road. The commanding driving position is one you’ll continue to look for in every other car you drive, and even though they’re larger than some small towns, they aren’t too horrible in the corners.

I’ve been in nearly every modern luxury SUV from Escalades to BMWs to Mercedes, and none of them compare to the pure experience that the Range Rover offers.

The driving experience of the Range Rover is reason enough to at least test drive one. For those of you who own one of any generation, you understand just how perfect the driving experience of the Range Rover is.

Capability
It’s hard to not talk about capability when talking about any Land Rover product. Whether you’re looking to drive up a mountain or haul a boat across the country, there’s really no better SUV to use. The Range Rover will tackle every challenge with ease while keeping you comfortable with your cooled seats. A surprising amount of people don’t seem to understand the capability that the Land Rover Range Rover actually has, but um.. it’s kind of in the name.

In fact, there are times I’m surprised the Range Rover is so effortless. Driving off-road in the Range Rover somehow feels like driving down a bumpy highway in even the worst conditions. Everything comes natural to the Range Rover, and it almost feels as if there’s a small army controlling all of the different aspects of the terrain response, traction control, and differentials.

When I first bought it, I took this one through some seriously dangerous terrain, and my ignorance was completely ignored by the Range Rover as it effortlessly crawled through it all. Looking back, being so bold was a bit dumb with my lack of experience, but the car barely stretched it’s legs to get out of it.

Reliability
Hear me out for a minute. I know saying a Land Rover is reliable is shocking to most people, but if you find one that has been taken care of and CONTINUE to care for it, do the scheduled service, and take care of the service bulletins, you’re probably going to have pretty trouble free ownership.

Most issues with Land Rovers come from not being cared for. You’ll experience hiccups now and then over the course of years of ownership, but it’s highly unlikely that you’ll buy one and the engine will seize the next day - if it’s been taken care of.

Overall, the Range Rover has been a very dependable car. Most people refuse to believe that, though, because their aunt’s sister’s best friend had one in college 20 years ago that was never taken in for service. Then they’re surprised when it breaks down for the first time.

Are they perfect? Not at all. There are common problems with each model - just as with ANY car. Maintenance gets ignored on luxury cars, though, because it’s “too expensive.” But if you remember that the car was closing in on $100,000 new. It still has the maintenance costs of a car that was $100,000. Maintenance doesn’t depreciate like the car. Parts and labor aren’t cheap, and that needs to be remembered when buying one.

Value
Last but not least is probably the most important topic. It’s nearly impossible to find a modern car with the prestigious name and luxury of the Range Rover for the same price. Even the later model years of the L322 are cheaper to purchase than a new base model Corolla. When you compare the value you’ll get from the two as far as luxury, driving experience, capability, and social status, the two barely compare.

The point is, though, that there are few used cars on the market that offer more for your money than a used Range Rover. Sure, you still have the maintenance to deal with, but if you plan that out, it’s not bad whatsoever. Most issues come when people don’t know what to expect or how to plan for it. Likewise, the same could be said for maintaining ANY luxury car.
