Glossopharyngeal Nerve is the 9th nerve exiting from the brainstem. A compression of the nerve by one or more blood vessels can cause Glossopharyngeal neuralgia. This presents as ear pain and/or throat pain associated with eating, swallowing, talking, drinking etc. Usually these episodes are brief.
