Two Engines with Different Towing Capabilities

Ford claims that the entry-level 2022 Maverick will be able to tow 2,000 pounds when equipped with the base 2.5L, 4-cylinder engine. This is acceptable for individuals who don't plan to tow anything except a tiny watercraft for a brief trip to the lake.
The front wheels are driven by a continuously variable gearbox coupled with a 191-horsepower electric motor and 155-pound-foot torque 2.5L engine. Featuring a 250-horsepower 2.0L engine and the optional 4K Tow Package, 4,000 pounds of towing potential Maverick's towing capability is up to 4,000 pounds with the optional 2.0L EcoBoost engine & 4K Tow Package installed. With an 8-speed automatic gearbox and either front-wheel drive as standard or all-wheel drive as an option, this engine produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
Payload capacity is 1,500 pounds, which equates to 37 40-pound bags, says Ford. Despite this, most midsize vehicles' average 7,500-pound towing capacity is just 4,000 pounds. In contrast, the 2022 Maverick's unibody design is a body-on-frame vehicle. If you don't have the money for a Ford Ranger with nearly double the towing capacity at 7,500 pounds, the Maverick's hauling skills are remarkable enough.

Takeaway

Overall, the new 2022 Maverick is a tiny vehicle that can tow a 23-foot camper thanks to the 2.0L's 4,000-pound tow rating with the tow package. Motorbikes & jet skis may be transported with a typical 1,500-pound capacity, ideal for this type of transport.
