Royal Aeronautical Society Heathrow Branch October 2021 Lecture via WEBINAR -
"Aviation at 'COP26'"
by Holly Greig, Deputy Director, Aviation Decarbonisation, UK Department for Transport

ABSTRACT:
COP 26, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, provides a unique opportunity to increase the ambition and pace of global action on decarbonisation.

It is also a critical milestone in the lead up to the 41st ICAO General Assembly in 2022 where, following the airline sectors historic commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 in October 2021, there is a unique opportunity for aviation to be the first global industry to also commit to a net-zero emissions by 2050.

We hope to use COP26 to galvanise industry, state, and civil society support for international action to reduce the climate impacts of aviation, and in this RAeS webinar, Holly Greig, Deputy Director, Aviation Decarbonisation, UK Department for Transport, will outline the Government’s plans for the COP that will support this ambition.
