"Flying the Airbus A350"

ABSTRACT:
In this RAeS Heathrow Branch lecture, the Guest Speaker, Captain James Basnett will provide the audience with an insightful look at flying the Airbus A350 and the benefits that British Airways’ newest aircraft type brings to customers, pilots and the business.

He’ll look at some of the sophisticated advances that this new aircraft brings, its impressive capabilities, and why pilots love flying it.


ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
James is the Director of Flying at British Airways and currently flies the Airbus A350.

He has held positions as Entry into Service Manager for the Airbus A380, Training Manager for the Airbus A320 fleet, Chief Pilot for all Airbus pilots and most recently as Director of Flying, responsible for Fleet and Operational support and management within Flight Operations.

He was trained by Britannia Airways on the Boeing B737-200 and then moved to Monarch Airlines before flying a number of different types in British Airways, including the Boeing B747-400, B737-400, Airbus A320, A350 and A380.

He also has responsibility for pilot recruitment and is committed to ensuring that British Airways fulfils its promise to attract more women into the role, promote diversity and represent more minority ethnic groups.
