Abstract:
Many trainees, experienced therapists, and researchers may not be aware of the extensive empirical evidence supporting humanistic-experiential, psychodynamic, and systemic approaches. In this webinar, recognized leaders of each of these three broad “schools” of psychotherapy will offer a synopsis of decades of findings regarding their respective effectiveness for a variety of clinical problems, as well as on process variables related to such effectiveness. Discussions between the presenters will then focus on how these three evidence-based orientations and the processes underlying them should play a more prominent role in training, clinical, and public policies guidelines. In addition, the presenters will discuss how clients’ relationships are approached similarly and differently in the three orientations.
