The Ford GT40, sometimes referred to as the Ford GT40 Mk I, is a sports car from the American manufacturer Ford, 126 of which were produced4 from 1964 to 1968. It was the American company's first car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans on four successive occasions, from 1966 to 1969. The name GT40 comes from the initials "GT" for the "Grand Touring" category, supplemented by the number "40" for its 40-inch (1.02 m) body height. There were 12 prototypes of what would become the GT40, including 5 roadsters
