The Budget D16Y8 we recently bought for $200 is finally being torn down. The previous owner said it has a slight knock, hopefully it is nothing too serious and we will be able to use this motor for our build platform.

The D16Y8 we purchased was not in the best condition. We snagged it from someone's backyard and it had been sitting for quite a while. It had water all over and even in the cylinders. The motor would rotate pretty smoothly and had enough compression to shoot some of the water out of the spark plug holes. We put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders (pink) to try and preserve as much as possible. The goal for this motor is to do a full Vitara build and shoot for around 300-450 whp.
Using this as our platform to learn and tune will be an amazing learning experience and fun as hell!
