Easter can mean a number of different things.

Renewal. Restoration. Resurrection. The list goes on.

Saturday night, I was searching for a church to attend for Easter Sunday. I've only attended Protestant/Evangelical services in the past, but became curious to know what a Catholic Easter mass was like.

While looking online, I recalled Bishop Robert Barron serves as bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester (just a 3-hour drive away from me). As an intellectual, Bishop Barron is one of the most followed American Catholic voices on social media - speaking for the faith in various interviews with the likes of Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, and Lex Friedman.

When looking if he actually preaches on the Diocese's Facebook account, there he was on their livestream. Presiding over an Easter Vigil Mass nearing 10:00pm.

Matter of fact, he had presided all week. Chrism Mass on Monday. Washing feet on Maundy Thursday. Instituted the priesthood and Eucharist on Good Friday. Leading lights into the darkness on Holy Saturday.

When I arrived for Easter Sunday morning, the seat Bishop Barron had resided all week was empty.

The Catholic faith is still a bit of a mystery to me. I'm not sure if that was by design or not. Maybe a re-telling of Christ's empty tomb on that Easter morning. Not sure.

This day, the focus was on the younger generation. Through a large portion of the service, children were the ones who were singing. Several sang solo. A new dawning.
