Many ferocious female raccoons are fighting all around me! It's becoming apparent that their hormones are causing them to be aggressive. I lay outside on a lounge chair with a raised platform next to me. On top, it's covered with peanuts and cookies. My goal is to get raccoons to stand or go above me in order to inspect for signs of pregnancy. I have tremendous success with my experiment and can clearly see physical evidence of raccoon motherhood with multiple female raccoons.
One of my favorites, Cutie Monster, stands up on me multiple times. This allowed me to put the camera on her underside to see swollen teats. She wasn't the only one. Cutie Monster is behaving incredibly differently from her usual self. She's ultra aggressive and has ferocious outbursts with other raccoons that get in her way. Her appetite this night was extreme, and she was jumping all over me.
I discovered that I incorrectly identified a raccoon named Chaz as a male. Chaz is a female, and is also amped up by hormones. I saw evidence on Excitable Bill, Moira, Cleopatra, and Gurdy Monster too. In fact Gurdy Monster crawled all the way up on the platform next to me. I had a massive raccoon at eye level with me just inches from my face!
It was a very exciting ,action packed night of filming. This video shows a side to raccoons rarely seen on my channel. Usually everyone gets along so nicely. We shouldn’t label raccoons as mean or bad during moments of transition like these. This is hardwired by nature and is necessary.
