It was early September and my uncle Jamie was representing Northern Wisconsin Outdoor Adventures on a Wisconsin black bear bow hunt that was 11 years in the making. In Wisconsin the process of getting a black bear tag takes a very long time, but after 11 years of applying, Jamie finally got his tag. It was a warm evening hunt in the stand but my uncle and my dad as the camera man were ready for a nice bear to come into the bait that was twenty yards in front of him. As the hunt got started it didn't take very long for a nice black bear to come into the bait. The ear-tagged bear stood on its hind legs and quickly removed the rock covering the bait, but when it turned to start eating it was easy to see that the bear had something wrong with his jaw. As Jamie sized up the bear he realized it was time to take the shot. He grabbed his Hoyt bow, drew back, and let the arrow fly. Unfortunately it sailed right over the top of the bears back. Jamie was in disbelief as the bear stood there for a while and then eventually ran off into the woods. Unbelievably, however, after a few minutes the bear came right back. This time Jamie knew that he needed his shot to count. With his heart pumping he released another arrow and the Rage broad head did the rest. Jamie put a great shot on the bear and was pumped that he just cashed in on his long awaited black bear tag. The bear didn't go more than thirty yards and Jamie couldn't wait to finally get his hands on him. Hope you enjoy this truly amazing black bear hunt!
