LISTEN: Joseph Pereira (CFA'96), a timpanist, percussionist, composer, conductor, teacher and BU School of Music alum, shares his keys to success and passion for music.

Pereira, who has been the Principal Timpanist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2008, says, "Being curious for me is really important, meaning just go out and play as much as possible, go out and listen as much as possible, there's just so much available now."

After graduating in 1996 from CFA, he went on to play all over the world and in 2005 while conducting his Quintet for Winds, The New York Times said, “…it is a restless yet lucidly textured work with an astringent harmonic language.”
