Boston University’s new Visual Narrative MFA program is one of only a handful of programs in the country focused on producing media such as comics and graphic books, picture books, and animation. The new Master of Fine Arts degree, led by renowned comic book artist and #myCFA alum Joel Christian Gill (CFA’04), allows students the opportunity to craft stories that integrate written and visual language 📓🖌

“From the time students come in I am introducing them to some of the most celebrated cartoonists in America,” says Gill, Chair, Department of Visual Narrative at BU School of Visual Arts.

Located on the third-floor of the Boston University 808 building, the program has individual desks and large digital drawing tablets for each student, in addition to printers, a coffee maker, and even bean bag chairs for when you just need a break 😴

“I want you to be able to want and have that passion for storytelling,” says Gill, “I can teach you how to draw… come for the storytelling and we can tell incredible stories together.”
