1) I bought a blanket and immediately remade it. Now this is another useful thing for which you don’t mind paying a lot of money.
I bought myself a blanket and one towel. I will make a blanket out of them that turns into a pillow. These transformable items save space and are ideal for travel and gifts.
The pillow can be made of any size, as long as the folded blanket fits into it.
For my blanket 150x130 cm I will make a pillow 35x35 cm.
For sewing, I prepared two zippers of 50 cm and two pieces of fabric 35x35 cm, this already with allowances.
How to sew:
- I sewed squares on one side. You can take a piece of fabric 35x68 cm.
- For decoration, I sewed waffle fabric from a towel on top.
- I unzipped the zipper and attached it with needles with the front side to the front side of the rectangle in the middle in this way.
- I cut the zipper at the corners with scissors. I stitched it.
- I turned the edges of the zipper onto the wrong side of the rectangle. Ironed it.
- I found the middle on the blanket and attached the part with the zipper, connected the blanket and the part with the zipper with a seam. This way all the seams will be inside.
- Now you need to fold the blanket, first roll it lengthwise, and then again the edges to the middle. Fold the product in half and fasten the zippers.
It seems difficult to do, but can be done in an hour.
The result is a 2-in-1 blanket in a pillowcase that can be put in the car and used under the head or when the passenger is cold, especially when on the road at night.

2) I took a cheap blanket and traced my slippers over it. I spent only 10 minutes and got a cozy and useful thing.
Comfortable shoes for the house are indoor slippers or socks. They are warm and comfortable. Slippers are fine for a long time, but socks wear out very quickly and rub on the heels or big toe.
It is not necessary to buy them in the store every time. You can sew it with your own hands in 10 minutes. You don't even need a special pattern for this.
How to sew:
- Fold the fabric in half with right sides facing inward.
- Take indoor slippers of your size and trace the soles. Just slippers, and not to circle your foot.
- Cut along the marked lines with an allowance of 1 centimeter. If the fabric stretches in all directions, then do not make allowances.
- Sew in a circle, closing the line on a sewing machine. If you have an overlocker, sewing will be significantly reduced.
- Now draw a line in chalk along the middle. Mark a point 5.5 cm from the heel and 8-10 cm from the toe. Bend the trace and make a cut from one mark to another.
- Turn the product inside out and try it on. If the fabric does not stretch well and the marks are pressing, then you can cut the neckline a little more on yourself.
- But in theory they will fit the first time.
- To give the socks a finished look, you can crochet them.
- The footwear turned out to be warm, you can wear it on a sock or on your bare body. They can be sewn not only for women, but also for men and children.
This is a great option for those who cannot knit or sew more complex patterns. At least everyone can trace the slippers.

3) I bought a cheap blanket, but not to cover myself. I'll show you what new thing I turned it into.
I will sew a vest that will be useful at home for keeping warm and outside when it gets warmer.
The pattern is the simplest, you can take it from Burda or trace it on any suitable clothing. - for example, a jacket, which is what I made.
- For convenience, I turned the sleeves inside.
- First I sewed the shoulder and side seams. Now you can do the fitting, at this stage all errors are eliminated. I deepened the neckline a little and cut the armholes at the front by 1.5 cm.
- I placed another layer of fabric on the reverse side of the shelves.
- The sleeves were a little puffy at the front, so I added small darts. All these manipulations took no more than 10 minutes.
- The seams do not need to be overcast, the fleece does not fray, you can trim them with curly scissors.
- I made a stitch along the neckline line.
- Further processing of shelves and sleeves. To do this, I cut strips of brown fleece on the bias, 5 cm wide, and stitched them together into bias tape.
- I attached it to the vest on the wrong side and stitched it. Then she turned it right side out. Now you can sew it with a zigzag or a simple stitch.
- I also processed the armholes.
- I hemmed the bottom of the vest.
- I sewed loops for buttons, stitched them on the right shelf after 13 cm. Sewed on the buttons.
- A vest without pockets is not a vest.
- A convenient thing for home that you can’t buy in a store is ready.
It is warm and cozy, and most importantly, you can sew it yourself with minimal sewing skills.
