We are self proclaimed log splitter experts, mainly because we have been designing log splitters for over 40 years combined.

We recently purchased the Super Handy 20 Ton log splitter because it looked like a great little machine. After using it we still think it's a great machine but there are flaws. First of all, it's most defiantly not a 20 ton. It's at best a 13 ton but more likely an 11 ton. Will it split your wood? Most likely, unless you have a lot of stringy, knotty or huge logs. Most logs don't require a lot of tonnage but there are that do. Just keep this in mind when purchasing.

The other issue is the tank and hydraulic fluid. The tank is too small and the return fluid is directed right next to the suction line. This combination is introducing a lot of air into the hydraulic fluid causing the fluid to become foamy. Another result is the tank is pressurizing. The fluid temperature increases and if you remember from your physics class PV=nrT. We took of the fill port and fluid sprayed everywhere. There was one instance where the suction hose blew off when we were retracting the cylinder. When you retract the cylinder more fluid is driven into the tank creating a surge of pressure.

Long story short, the Super Handy is a nice little machine but has design flaws and could wear out sooner than expected. For ~$900 I would expect a little better.
