Today we tell you everything about 2022 Acura NSX Type S. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

After a long time of rumors and speculation, Acura has confirmed its new plans for an NSX Type S. Please continue to watch if you want to learn everything about the new 2022 Acura NSX Type S, maybe even some exciting surprises Acura is preparing for us.
The supercar debuted at Monterey Auto Week on August 12 with a promise of "huge power upgrades, faster acceleration, and more acute handling."
The Acura NSX came into the automotive world with a huge bang and has no intention of leaving with a soft whimper. Yes, unfortunately, 2022 is the last model year for the sports car, but it will end on a robust note with the 600-hp 2022 Acura NSX Type S.
Acura is quite good at keeping most of the details under wraps till the last minute but has confirmed that the NSX Type S will be equipped with the "advanced" twin-turbo hybrid V6 engine, as well as the SuperSport Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
The NSX Type S has the same 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine with three electric motors as the previous year. But, it now boasts 520 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, excelling the outgoing NSX’s 500 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The petrol engine has brand-new fuel injectors which have 25-percent better flow, new intercoolers that are 15-percent more efficient, and new turbochargers derived from the NSX GT3 Evo with higher boost pressure going up from 15.2 to 16.1 psi.
The Type S has new suspension calibrations for less body roll and brake dive, the torque vectoring system has upgraded response at turn-in and corner exit, and the active engine and intake sound systems have been revamped to provide a more "integrated" engine note. A new Lightweight Package includes carbon-ceramic brakes (already an option on the standard NSX), a carbon-fiber engine cover, and lots of carbon interior trim. It costs $13,000, and Acura declared it reduces weight by 58 pounds.
With the electric motors, it produces a peak of 600 hp and 492 lb-ft of torque—27 horses and 16 lb-ft more than the 2021 NSX. The turbochargers are acquired from the NSX GT3 Evo race car. And there is more battery capacity and output than today's NSX, granting longer periods of electric-only driving in the car's EV mode.
All that power goes through a recalibrated nine-speed dual-clutch transmission, which now has a Rapid Downshift Mode that allows you to accomplish near-perfect heel-and-toe downshifts like the late, glorious Ayrton Senna. The system can skip several gears at a time by holding down the downshift paddle for 0.6-seconds without needing to click (and headcount) across individual gears. Upon holding the paddle, the transmission chooses the lowest available gear for the vehicle’s speed, resulting in very smooth acceleration when blasting through the curves.
The gearbox even has new and improved programming for the Sport and Sport+ driving modes to engage the clutch 50-percent rapidly when gunning through the gears. And in Track mode, the rev threshold is 1,500 rpm higher to let drivers initiate downshifts earlier when decelerating. The supercar also features a re-tuned Adaptive Shock Absorber System which will be much needed for the speeds this car can achieve.
There are also newly designed forged five-spoke wheels that have a higher negative offset and widen the track by 0.4-inch at the front and 0.8-inch at the rear compared to the basic NSX, and they're wrapped in custom Pirelli P Zero tires that were developed especially for the Type S. The new tires are sized 245/35ZR19 at the front and 305/30ZR20 at the back, and Acura claims to provide a 6% increase in lateral grip.
By advancing the chassis, suspension, and response of the NSX Type S, the company heightened the supercar's performance and its connection with its driver. Six-piston Brembo brakes with red-plated calipers are standard equipment for the 2022 NSX Type S. A larger front grille opening allows more air to reach the radiators to help cool the engine.

Oh and here is a little-known fact about the Acura: Did you know that the official Acura logo, which looks like the letter "A", actually has a much deeper meaning? It symbolizes the calipers which is a tool for precise measurements. This logo signifies that every Acura car is constructed with precision and technological excellence. The Acura logo, introduced in 1990, is a stylized “A” (for Acura) that can also be interpreted as a bent “H” (for Honda). The logo was at first authorized without approval by Soichiro Honda. It did not contain the small parallel bar joining the two vertical pillars and did not form the letter “H”.
Soichiro Honda ordered the already produced 5,000 badges to be destroyed, including prying off the emblems applied to 309 cars already. That is what we call serious brand commitment.
