VN24 - 30-04-2023 (D/M/Y) - Unna A44 / Germany - Around 05:10 on Sunday morning, a 55-year-old truck driver from Turkey was driving his Semitrailer on the A44 freeway between the intersection Werl (A445) and the intersection Unna-Ost (B233) in a westbound direction, when, according to his own statement to the police, he became tired and fell asleep. First, the Semitrailer loaded with textiles came off the road to the right and drove through a ditch up a slope. From there, the steering wheel turned left and he crossed the lanes of the highway. The tractor hit the center guardrail and buckled like a jackknife. This must have woken the driver up. Fortunately, he was uninjured during this extra trip and was able to look over the shoulders of the recovery experts from the Horstmann company for hours with interest as they pulled the truck straight again with two tow trucks. In addition, he received a ticket from the police for driving without a permit during the Sunday driving ban.
