3 April 2024 Giga Texas! Boring Tunneling in action today, Production Ramping back up & Multi-Level Garage almost at full size!

Today was an excellent day to fly, with bright blue skies, low winds and cool to warming temperatures ... ideal for capturing a lot of great activity around the site today!

In the video introduction, I talk about the vision Tesla had for Giga Texas back in 2020, the hope the construction had for a better east Austin area, and the promises Tesla made to the community. I summarize a recent update about the community impact Giga Texas has had, particularly in 2023 and this information was provided by Rohan Patel, Tesla lead for policy and Business Development.

Much of what was promised and hoped for has been achieved (and more), but additional work remains and will continue to be met or exceeded in 2024 and beyond.

A few highlights from today’s Drone flight to look for are:

The boring tunneling was underway and in action today at the time of my drone flight, with the Prufrock 3 drilling head in motion and visible in my drone video footage. About 5 to 6 meters of tunnel segments have been completed and about 1/3 of the Prufrock 3 is buried under the ground now.

A new cleared section leading from the Prufrock 3 and to the highway edge was observed today, and I was able to get footage and images from both the drone and the ground of this today. The dirt spoils section has obviously had a lot of dirt in it, and there is an excavator next to this containment area to pick up the dirt and load it into dump trucks.

On the south extension area, we see the three rebar and concrete parallel "tunnels" with elevator shafts on their north ends and preparations for opening the south perimeter grade beams to allow access into these tunnels. It is still a mystery why these three parallel and evenly spaced (west, middle and east sides of the ground slab) are being constructed or what their purpose will be.

In the open section between the extension steel structure and the original building, we see more trenching and large pipes being installed.

On the SE corner of the new building extension, we see the long excavation getting some fill dirt and also large rebar cages as if for footings laying nearby along with screw-type piers. It is still unclear what this will be, but preparations for footings and ground supports seems imminent, so perhaps we will get additional clues soon.

The multi-level parking garage is almost completed, at least as it's final size is concerned. Just a few more concrete columns, beams and Double-T panels are left to finish the last section on the northeast corner, and the main structure will be completed.

We see concrete pump trucks in action filling part of the 6th floor, and this will continue on all floors, the roof and a ground slab to finish the main construction of this facility. It is possible that by the end of April, this structure will be completed and ready for use.
