Hey Food Box HQ Family! Today we're unboxing and cooking up EveryPlate to give you our review of this affordable meal kit.

The biggest benefit of EveryPlate is that on their largest plan, each meal is around $5. That's pretty impressive when you compare EveryPlate with other meal kits, like Sunbasket, which can go for $12+ per meal.

EveryPlate has also been evolving since we last reviewed them. Now, you can customize certain meats and sides by giving you the option to add, swap, or upgrade certain ingredients. This is something that I've noticed a lot of meal kits start to offer and I think it's a wonderful addition to EveryPlate. There have been a number of times where I see a meal on their menu but either the side or the main doesn't really interest me. Being able to swap it out for something else or even upgrade it, opens up a whole new world of meal options.

Now, something to be aware of if that EveryPlate is a "budget" meal kit. This means that they pull back on certain things that are normal in other meals kits. The first and most obvious is the packaging—it's very minimal and every ingredient is just thrown into the box. Thankfully, there is a cardboard bin of sorts that makes it easy to pull everything out and place in the fridge.

The next area where EveryPlate pulls back is with the level of ingredients and recipes. These are not going to be 5-star, gourmet recipes. I found that many of them tend to be more homestyle, regular recipes with a bit of extra flare, such as the pork tacos we made.

Is EveryPlate perfect? No, definitely not. But at their price point, I think they are a great value.
