This reel from NARA is an assembly of footage taken early in the operational life of the USS Akron (ZRS-4). Before she was tested with any hook-on planes, Akron performed a number of shakedown flights, some of which had footage taken to be included in this reel. It is a good edit of both interior, exterior and air-to-air shots taken by USN and newsreel cameramen. Seen are closeups of the mooring “plumbob”, the bridge, the emergency control station in the lower fin, etc. You will see a group of guests gazing out the windows of the Bay VII crew quarters, the four welded-in chairs taken by the first men to climb down from the main passageway above. Documentaries have used many of these shots repeatedly – also as if the later USS Akron, and even USS Macon.
