What practical problems arise if we accept the theory of Quranic abrogation? Dr. Shabir Ally says that the classical scholars didn't agree about which verses were abrogated and which weren't. There is vagueness about the occasions and order of revelation. He concludes that it is dangerous to say that a verse cancels out another or supersedes another; it is better to interpret the verses in light of each other.
