The unusually long“sound check” included three fiddle tunes played in their entirety : “Mississippi Sawyer”, “Pretty Little Miss”, and “Martha Campbell” (a Kentucky anthem). Four-plus years have passed and much has happened during that time that has especially impacted the education, life-styles, and career opportunities of young adults such as the two young women musicians performing here. There was a surprising (for me, anyway) turn of events concerning education and career of the young fiddler Maelee Taylor (best known now as Jentry M. Taylor) who performs old time fiddle tunes in this video. The video will tell the beginning of this story which is still being written....

The "Kermit Possum Killers" old time string band, with members from both southwest Virginia and east Tennessee, performed on stage at the historic 1925 Cameo Theater on State Street in downtown Bristol, Virginia (just across the street from Bristol, Tennessee). The "Kermit Possum Killers" were performing tunes that reflect this region's authentic original sounds of "Old Time" fiddle and banjo tunes. This unusually long “sound check” and set-up included three fiddle tunes played entirely: “Mississippi Sawyer”, “Pretty Little Miss”, and “Martha Campbell” (a Kentucky anthem). Technical problems with audio encoding on a cellular link between the theater in Bristol and the studio in Blountville could not be resolved in time and the show was not broadcast live as planned. This two-hour performance was intended to be simultaneously broadcast live on the Tri-Cities three local radio transmitters on 870 AM, 96.3 FM, 100.7 FM (and streaming on the Internet at wpwt.streamon.fm). This band was on the stage from 1 pm until 3 pm on Saturday 9 September 2017.
