I install the last wall log on the back of the cabin and frame the gables with half-log posts and lumber before lifting the firs of three log purlins in place. Cali, my wife and I paddle a local river to cool off on a hot day, and I cook a few bear steaks on the campfire for lunches while working on the cabin.
