Sometimes, family travel seems like it's all for the parents and the kids are taking a backseat. So how do we keep the kids engaged and excited? Each trip we take, we try to do a "Kids Day" where they get to choose the day's activities. Park? Check. Ice cream? Check. Rainbow grilled cheese? Check and double check.

Letting the kids have a say in the activities gives them an opportunity to take ownership of them. They're more invested! So we let them plan out the schedule and have something to look forward to. On our most recent trip to Japan, this is exactly what we did.
