On November 2, the LBJ Library and LBJ Foundation hosted a discussion on LBJ’s sweeping legacy by some of our nation’s top scholars to mark the publication of LBJ’s America: The Life and Legacies of Lyndon Baines Johnson.

The first panel, moderated by Melody Barnes, Executive Director, Karsh Institute of Democracy at the University of Virginia, explored President Johnson’s place in the broad political currents of the 20th & 21st centuries. Panelists included: Nicole Hemmer, Director of the Carolyn T. and Robert M. Rogers Center for the Study of the Presidency and Associate Professor of History, Vanderbilt University; Marc Selverstone, Director and Professor of Presidential Studies and Co-Chair, Presidential Recordings Program, Miller Center of Public Affairs, University of Virginia; and Julian Zelizer, Malcolm Stevenson Forbes, Professor of History and Public Affairs, Princeton University; CNN Political Analyst.
