Dr. Roger K. McFillin is a Licensed Psychologist and Executive Director of the Center for Integrated Behavioral Health & host of the soon to be released podcast “Radically Genuine”. Dr. McFillin has extensive experience and expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. He is Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia PA. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was the recipient of the Deans Award for Academic Excellence and currently has a standing faculty appointment.

Dr. McFillin is strongly committed to the use of evidence-based treatments and specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for the treatment of post-traumatic stress, eating disorders & mood/anxiety related concerns. Dr. McFillin specializes in working with trauma victims and people who may be experiencing multiple problems (eating, self injury, suicidal thinking, relationship problems and/or substance abuse) associated with difficulties in regulating intense emotions/moods. Dr. McFillin’s areas of academic & clinical interest also reflect the advancement of safe, empirically validated front line treatments for mental health concerns & is outspoken against the prescription drug culture that currently dominates mental health care.

Dr. McFillin is the co-author of the book Specialty Competencies in Clinical Psychology (2013), from Oxford University Press. He has authored numerous book chapters as an expert in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders including those published in the Handbook of Cognitive-Behavioral Approaches in Primary Care (2010) from Springer Press and the SAGE Encyclopedia of Abnormal and Clinical Psychology (2017). He led a research project in collaboration with Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Adolescent Eating Disorder Program, publishing seminal research in understanding coping strategies that influence the development and maintenance of eating disorders in adolescent females.

Dr. McFillin is a founding member of CIBH’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy Team and is intensively trained by Marsha Linehan’s, Ph.D., ABPP group at Behavioral Tech. He has been featured as an expert on local and national media outlets including National Public Radio (NPR), Philly.com, and Channel 69 WFMZ.

Dr. McFillin’s approach in therapy is non-judgmental, validating, goal-focused, motivational, and encouraging. He relies upon the scientific literature to develop a collaborative treatment plan designed to encourage news ways of responding to challenges his clients face. You can expect Dr. McFillin to be more than a passive listener in therapy who will provide expert consultation and support.

Dr. McFillin is a member of the American Board of Professional Psychologists, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and the Academy for Eating Disorders.
