Per Odin, MD, PhD, Lund University, Lund, Sweden, talks about the quality of life in patients with late-stage Parkinson's disease (PD). Patients in late stage of PD are a vulnerable group that is often excluded from clinical trials and, in many cases, too disabled to attend hospital appointments. Various European projects, such as the Care of Late-Stage Parkinsonism (CLaSP) and the PD_PAL projects, have evaluated the needs and provision of care for patients in the late stages of Parkinsonism in order to improve the care provided to those patients. For instance, in the PD-PAL project, specialized PD nurses are appointed to visit patients' homes to provide personalized palliative care to patients in the last stages of disease. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
