Ferran Garcia-Pichel is a highly-distinguished microbiologist, Regents Professor and center director for the Biodesign Center for Fundamental and Applied Microbiomics and the recipient of the Faculty Research Achievement Award.

Garcia-Pichel’s career of studying and compiling research on microbes in diverse, natural environments spans two decades. His keen eye and knack for asking the right questions have earned him numerous environmental and ecological accolades. Gracia-Pichel is now using solar farms and their unique ecological conditions to foster the growth of these organisms.

As a committed and dedicated faculty member, he works with graduate students to create and cultivate the next generation of scientists.
