Dark season 3 will be released on June 27, 2020, and there are many questions about the family connections in this Netflix series. This video breaks down the theories and explains the questions we want answered in the final season. In the new season 3 promo we see Jonas Kahnwald (Louis Hofmann) travel to alt Martha Nielson’s (Lisa Vicari) world, and see that there is an older version of her there named Eve. What this new world means for Jonas’s world is unclear, but we see alternate versions of several of the characters we know from the first two seasons.

In Dark everything is connected and that includes the four major families. In Winden the families are the Kahnwalds, the Dopplers, the Tiedemanns, and the Nielsens. In season 2 we learned that there are bootstrap paradoxes that include family members travelling in time to be their own ancestors. Charlotte Doppler’s daughter Elisabeth is also her mother.

In the new trailer we see a family tree that is mirrored between the two worlds connected with an infinity symbol. This is in a room similar to Adam’s beneath the church where a painting depicting Adam and Even is hanging. We see that the apocalypse happens in this alternate world too, and is probably started by alt Aleksander Tiedemann and alt Charlotte Doppler.

We see Winden prime after the apocalypse, and go back in time to 1888 for the formation of Sic Mundus. While there is a lot of new footage it’s still hard to speculate on how the Dark series will come to an end. Will Adam succeed in his plan to destroy the knot, and is a plan that Eve is a part of? Who are the new trio of characters with the scar on their lip, and whose side are they on?

This Dark “season 3 theories” video looks at the best ideas of what will happen in the third season. It explains how some of these theories might play out, and why some of them aren’t that likely.

Dark season 3 will be the final season of the Netflix series. We expect the showrunners to explain the answers to questions that we have had after the first two seasons. Time travel, the founding of Sic Mundus Creatus Est, Adam’s plan to destroy time, Claudia’s plan, and what will happen to Winden after the apocalypse.

In the third and final season, DARK reaches its mind-bending conclusion, moving beyond the concept of space and time. Upon arrival in a new world, Jonas tries to make sense of what this rendition of Winden means for his own fate, while the ones left behind in the other world are left on a quest to break the loop that now not only bends time but also space. Two worlds. Light and dark. And in the center a tragic love story of epic proportions.
