For the past three months, Tom White has lived with the Mazda MX-30 Electric E35 Astina - an electric car that seemingly puts style well ahead of substance, and is aimed squarely at city car buyers who can live with a limited range EV.
With its quirky door layout, 200km EV driving range, a price tag above AUD$65,000 and plenty of other considerations that might not make this the right car for you, Tom grappled to come to grips with the purpose of the MX-30 Electric.
In the end, three months was enough for him to come to the conclusion that the Hyundai Kona Electric, Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2 all make more sense in pragmatic and practical ways. But none of those offer the "fun to drive" experience of the Mazda MX-30.
Is fun enough? You be the judge, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
