Gigafactory Texas on 22 September 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Weather front came through, so windy & gusty morning and temps in the high 60s (Fahrenheit) or 16 degrees C, which is a big change from just yesterday. Busy around the site, with what appears to be an effort to clear out the staging areas just north of the main foundation.
In this video, we look back at the first 14 months since Giga Texas was formally announced and work began on the site. A lot has changed, so I do time lapses in 4-month increments of five key areas around the site to show how much has changed. Given what we will see in the video today, a lot of work now seems to be “finishing” type activities to prepare the factory to (perhaps) begins small scale production next month … in any case, it is amazing to see how fast the site has developed from an old, depleted sand and gravel mine to a factory on the cusp of starting small scale construction … in just 14 months! Awesome!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- A large red bridge crane was being delivered into the battery cell structure. This is surely the first of several going in on the first floor.
- Tesla employees were arriving to start their morning shifts and we can see the crossing guards directing the traffic flow around to the west side of the General Assembly structure.
- Also on the west side, we see more large window panes being prepared to be installed later this morning.
- At the southwest corner, wall panels are being installed right at the angled corner, so we should see walls wrapping around to the south side later today, which would be another milestone for Giga Texas!
- The "alleyway" roof section around the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer installation now has cementitious slurry sprayed on the roof decking material, like what was done on the battery cell roof.
- Work continues this morning finishing the storm water pipes under the south bridge, and we see more of the earthwork south of the water detention ponds. I believe this dirt is filling in the central area excavation around the new footings.
- In the central area, we see all footings in the pit are completed with concrete and the dirt fill is progressing south rapidly. We also see footing work on the east and west shoulder areas, and we the ground slab is nearly completed in the central steel structure, with a layer of gravel being applied at the south end. We also see the last of the pier drills being disassembled as it appears the pier work is now completed!
- In the casting structure, we see a large slab with poured concrete north of the two new Giga Press foundations/mounts, so it appears no more casting machines will be installed in the west bay, meaning 6 will be on this side. East wall risers are now installed on the roof to allow wall panel installation, and the perimeter grade beam on this side is getting forms installed, so concrete should flow here soon.
- On the east side along the length of the main factory, work on the concrete driveways, parking, and/or delivery areas is well underway, with two large sections in concrete now and several more prepared for rebar installation.
- Farther east and north of the battery cathode area, we see more equipment and materials, especially in the new staging area just to the north.
