Chicago is a city celebrated for architecture, but that often only encompasses buildings downtown or on the North Side. That's despite marvelous buildings on the South Side like the Art Moderne Chicago Vocational High School. Two high schools designed at the same time as twins by the same architect (Dwight Perkins) in different parts of the city illustrate the point, as architecture critic Lee Bey shows: Schurz on the North Side is landmarked, while Bowen is ignored.
