Tim explores some of his toys that open up in 2 dimensions...
An auto folding map of Paris, made of memory plastic, with the streets on one side, and the Metro on the other side.
Then something Tim calls the 'Bandsaw Mechanism' - it folds to a small size, and then opens into a much bigger size, normally circular.
Then a wooden toy from Germany, dating from the 1980s. It is a 'lazy tongs' mechanism, but slightly offset, so when you open it, it curves, and becomes a star!
Next, a spinning top that has an internal mechanism that opens up when you spin it.
