This was a pest call for some hogs that had done some major damage the previous evening. I arrived at the property around 10pm and after several hours, I hadn't seen a single hog. Finally, around 5:30am as I was about to pack up and leave, two large hogs came out of the tree line and headed into the field where they had been rooting the previous night.

I had set up behind some hay bales about 100 yards from the rooted section of the pasture. Based on the damage from the night before, I expected to see more hogs than just the two that emerged from the woods, but after observing them for a short period of time it seemed pretty clear that these two pigs were capable of creating that sort of damage on their own.

The favorable wind made it fairly easy to stalk in closer for a better shot, but there were a few factors that complicated things. Each pig had split off to different areas of the pasture making it much more difficult to get a good shot on both of them. Also, the cows and farm equipment in the background limited the direction which I could safely shoot.

I circled around to the right to position myself between the pigs and the tree line since that was the direction they would likely run. Unfortunately, the scope cut off after my second shot (loose battery cap) and I couldn't attempt a shot at the second pig.
