If the patient is diabetic, avoiding smoking and avoiding obesity, the patient has to keep a control on the weight prior to getting pregnant because with the previous hernia repair in place, if the patient gains a lot of weight, that itself is a risk for the hernia repair to fail. Adding to that, the stretch of the pregnancy will double the risk of a hernia failure. The patient has to keep a good control on the on her weight prior to getting pregnant. For the patient has to inform her obstetrician or the doctor who is going to conduct a delivery that she has undergone a previous hernia repair. And if there was a mesh placed, she has to inform that to the doctor because it's important if the patient is being planned for a Caesarean operation, the doctor has to know that there is already a mesh in place, and where is the mesh located for the obstetrician to plan her operation.
