1. Abundance: Being able to meet your needs with a surplus for others
2. Poverty is a curse (Deut. 28: 47–48: Absolute poverty)—totally fulfilled in
Jesus on the cross:
a. Hungry
b. Thirsty
c. Naked
d. In need of all things: Buried in borrowed robe in a borrowed tomb
3. Grace provides abundance (2 Cor. 9: 8)
4. Three levels:
a. Insufficiency—not enough for what you need
b. Sufficiency—just enough for what you need
c. Abundance—more than enough for what you need
5. More blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20: 35)
a. Do not “tip” God
b. Giving is a part of worship
6. A higher order of riches
a. Prov. 8: 18—Enduring riches
b. Prov. 13: 7—Material poverty producing enduring riches
c. 2 Cor. 6: 10—Pattern of Paul

G. Shame vs. glory
1. Jesus endured the sufferings (Heb. 2: 10)
a. That we might come into His fullness
b. To bring many sons to glory
2. Jesus endured the cross and despised the shame (Heb. 12: 2 [compare 2 Tim. 2: 10])—God’s glory may entail giving up convenience and comfort
3. He became a shameful sight (Is. 53: 3)
The “Spirit of Christ” spoke through Ps. 69: 4, 8, 9, etc. [1 Pet. 1: 10–11]
4. Exposed on the cross (Matt. 27: 35–36)
5. Causes of shame
a. Embarrassing experience(s)
b. Shameful act(s) committed
c. Sexual molestation (especially in childhood)
6. You are freed from shame when you can lift up your face to God (Job 11: 15; 22: 26)
7. To receive the exchange: Give thanks to the Lord for bearing your shame
