A major multi-agency rescue operation at Bournemouth Pier after reports of people being dragged out to sea in a riptide.

A section of the beach and promenade was cleared and cordoned off just east of the pier at the popular Dorset seaside resort.

Coastguard helicopters are circling overhead and multiple coastguard, lifeboat, fire service, police and ambulance crews are at the scene.
