Most species of the animal kingdom instinctively use spatial pressure as one of their main forms of communication. However, the influence of humans has diminished this instinct in many dogs. Dogs who are allowed to get pushy with humans with no consequence or push back, gradually become less and less sensitive to spatial pressure. I’m an advocate of “less is more.” In other words, when our mere presence can influence the direction a dog moves in, we’ve genuinely perfected the art of communication.
