President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the capsule laying ceremony of the Mactan Expo Center — a two-level stand-alone convention center inside its 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown township at Lapu-Lapu City on 27 April 2024.

Megaworld, the country’s leading property developer, is building the PhP1.5 billion Mactan Expo Center that aims to further enhance Cebu’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism industry.

It will feature a spacious convention hall capable of accommodating up to 2,500 people in a theater-style setup or 1,600 people for banquets.  The convention hall can be divided into three (3) smaller halls, accommodating approximately 700 to 900 persons each in a theater-style layout and 500 to 600 persons each in a banquet-style layout.

The Mactan Expo Center will be compliant to the requirements of the Philippine Green Building Council (PGBC) as it integrates several sustainability features into the structure, such as the use of low emissivity facade glass and low flow water fixtures.  Likewise, it will have its own rainwater recycling facility, a sewage treatment plant and materials recovery facility.
