Ofege's band "the schoolboy sensations", was largely composed of high school students and was probably the most popular Nigerian band of the early to mid-1970s, but they are near forgotten today. They usually garner a cursory mention at best in most books about African pop, they are rarely ever included on compilations of Afro-funk and rock and Google searches on them barely shored up any significant responses. Their 1977 album 'Higher Plane Breeze' was recorded right after they graduated from high school. The LP is a true afro-funk gem that only few record collector have their hands on, the rest of us are just anticipating the release of a lossless high quality reissue. It is also worth mentioning that 'Contraband' features Kiki Gyan on keys and synthesizer.
