On Wednesday, the United States Air Force announced the development of a new prototype blended wing body aircraft that could have significant implications for both the future of American airpower and the Pentagon's bottom line. Blended wing body (BWB) aircraft, sometimes called hybrid-body aircraft, promise to dramatically increase the efficiency, range, and potentially even stealth of future cargo, refueling, and personnel-carrying aircraft.
