Prairie Vistas: A Monthly Look at Classroom Resources is a new, monthly series from Prairie Public that covers the free, digital resources available to educators from PBS, Prairie Public, and other trusted partners.
Episode Three is on student journalism. Tim and Nick showcase PBS NewsHour's student journalism training program Student Reporting Labs, which can be used by both educators and students. Nick then talks to 3 high school newspaper advisors from around the state on their programs and how they've found success, as well as Prairie Public's own News Director Dave Thompson, who has been delivering news on public radio since 1981. Join us next month for a look at our original series Prairie Mosaic, which can be viewed on both video.pbs.org and PBS LearningMedia.

Special thanks to Dave Thompson, Nicholas Hornbacher, Stephanie Livingston, and Rebecca Johnson for appearing in this episode.

About the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. In 2008, Minnesota voters passed a landmark piece of legislation-the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment-which provided funding to public television stations serving audiences in Minnesota. It's mission is to help preserve and document the treasures of culture, history and heritage that make Minnesota special, and to increase access to the natural and cultural resources we all share.
